A US number is written as +1, a three-digit area code, then seven digits — ten digits after the dial code, e.g. +1 415 555 0123. The area code identifies the region: 212 and 917 are New York, 415 San Francisco, 305 Miami, 202 Washington DC, 310 and 213 California. Canada and Puerto Rico share the same +1 code, so what marks a number as American is its area code, not its country code.

How TikTok verification actually works

Email signup is available in most regions, though some require a phone number. TikTok also asks you to verify when you log in from a new device.
A common misconception
The number’s country does not determine the content you see. TikTok infers your region from device settings, app-store region and network address — not from the dial code in front of your number. If changing your feed is the goal, the number alone will not do it.
Once you are inside the account
Attach an email address you control straight away and enable two-factor authentication — TikTok verifies on every new device, and without an email there is no route back in.
TikTok code not arriving?
- Wait one to three minutes. An SMS usually crosses several networks before it lands.
- Re-check the format. Make sure +1 appears exactly once, that the leading zero is gone, and that TikTok's country selector is set to United States.
- Request the code again from inside TikTok — the new one arrives in the same inbox here. Do not fire off more than two or three requests a minute; apps throttle a line that is hammered.
- Try a different number. Public lines get burned over time. If a number receives everything except TikTok, it is TikTok that has blocked it.

Can I use it for a second TikTok account?
Yes, and it is the most common reason people look for a temporary United States number in the first place: a second account kept apart from their personal line. One distinction matters enormously, though: creating a new account on a temporary number is not the same as moving an existing one onto it.
