Before using a number
Is reading public SMS free?
Reading an inbox labeled public is free and needs no account. Members-only numbers have sign-in requirements, while private numbers have separate access plans. Choose one from the free SMS number directory and open its inbox before requesting a text.
Who can see the messages?
Anyone opening a public number’s page can read its displayed texts. A members-only number is still shared among users allowed access. Check the access label before requesting private content.
Can one person reserve a public number?
Viewing an inbox or copying a public number does not reserve it. Others may read or use it at the same time. Dedicated access for a defined period requires an available private-number plan.
How long will a number remain available?
Availability changes, and public numbers have no uniform guaranteed lifetime. If a number becomes unavailable, its page shows the status and a link to the country list. Keep a number you own for accounts you need long term.
Will every app accept a number?
Each app decides which number types it accepts and how it sends codes. Previous activity and the app’s instructions help you assess a number but do not guarantee a new delivery.
Do I need a SIM to read the inbox?
You read messages through a browser with an internet connection. You do not need to install that number’s SIM in your device to view a public inbox on the site.
