- 1
Choose a number and open its inbox
Start with the country you need. Check the number’s activity, then use the copy button on its inbox page.
- 2
Request a text from the site or app
Enter the number with the sender and select SMS. Avoid repeating the calling code if the form adds it automatically.
- 3
Return to the inbox and read the message
Watch for new texts and match the sender and time to your request. Auto-refresh checks incoming messages; manual refresh is available too.
An SMS inbox you can open anywhere
Keep your personal number to yourself
Use a temporary number instead of sharing your personal phone with every service that permits this type of number. Public messages remain visible to other visitors.
Find the country you need
Compare available numbers and calling codes. Open an inbox from your phone or computer without an additional SIM in your device.
See recent activity before choosing
Check the latest message time. On app pages, compare that app’s activity over 24 hours instead of relying on a lifetime total.
Looking for a number for a particular app?
Choose an app to compare its latest texts across the numbers, then filter by country if you need a particular calling code. Numbers with the newest app SMS appear first.
What is a temporary phone number?
A temporary phone number, often called a temp number or disposable phone number, lets you receive SMS through a web inbox instead of using your personal line. A working inbox is the difference between an online SMS number and randomly generated digits: open the number to see its incoming texts. When comparing virtual phone numbers, check the inbox’s access label and recorded line type: browser access alone does not establish that a line is private or non-VoIP.
Receive SMS online without a SIM in your device
Copy a number, enter it with the service sending your message, and return to that number’s inbox. You can read texts on a phone, tablet or computer using an internet connection. The number’s SIM does not need to be installed in the device you are browsing on. Our SMS verification guide explains how to identify a new OTP rather than an expired code from an earlier request.
Choose the right number for a short task
A shared SMS inbox can be useful for trying a service that accepts temporary numbers or testing your own message delivery. Public messages are visible to other visitors. For personal accounts and recovery, keep a number you own and can retain. Compare public, members-only and private numbers when privacy or the length of access matters.
