Get a Free Temp Number and Receive SMS Online

Every number below is completely free. Start by choosing the country that the site or app you want to register with is expecting; each card will show you its dialling code along with how many numbers are live in that country at the moment, and clicking on any country takes you through to its full list of temporary numbers. These numbers are public and shared between visitors, so the inbox belonging to each one is open for anyone to read.

Use an app page to browse the numbers associated with that app in our listing, then choose a country. These filters help you navigate; they do not certify that an app will accept a number or send another code.

A temporary phone number lets you check incoming SMS without using your own phone line. Here, each free number has a public inbox shared by visitors. You do not own the number or control how long it remains available.

A virtual number is not necessarily private. Before using any number, check who can read its messages, whether it receives the type of message you need, and whether you can keep access to it.

Start with the country list above. Choose the country of the number you need, open an available number and check its inbox. The country filter describes the number; it does not require you to live there.

Use the number format requested by the destination service. Some forms add the international dialling code automatically. If the service does not accept shared numbers, use a number you control that meets its requirements.

• Testing your own SMS flow: send a non-sensitive test message to an available number and check whether it appears.
• Trying a service that permits shared numbers: check its requirements before requesting a code.
• Checking a country-specific SMS route: choose the number’s country from the list, then inspect the inbox.

Keep personal information out of test messages. Public inboxes are unsuitable for banking, identity verification or account recovery.

A verification code confirms access to a phone number at that moment. A public inbox does not give you exclusive access: other visitors can read the same message and may use the same number.

Whether a service accepts a temporary number is its decision. An earlier message on a number does not establish that your next code will arrive. Read the SMS verification guidance for the limits of using a public inbox.

These numbers are public and shared. Every message they receive is published on the number's own page, where anybody at all can read it. That is not a flaw in the service so much as the service itself, and it decides exactly what these numbers are good for.

• Never use one for a bank, a wallet or a crypto exchange, or for any account holding money or identity documents.
• Never make one the recovery method for an account you care about. Whoever reads the inbox can trigger a password reset, and the number can leave the service at any time.
• Expect no privacy. Anything sent to the number is visible to everyone, including any name or code inside it.
• Receive only. You cannot send from these numbers, reply to a message, or take a call.
• A number may already have been used. If someone signed up to the same service on it before, that service may reject it — try another one.

The rule that follows from all of it is short: if losing the account would hurt, it deserves your real number.

1. Check the number, country selection and whether the form already includes the dialling code.
2. Check that the service offered SMS delivery. This inbox cannot display a code delivered inside another app or by voice call.
3. Read any error message or retry timer in the destination service and follow it.
4. If the service rejects temporary numbers, use an eligible number you control. Repeated requests do not establish compatibility.
