How Messenger verification actually works
Odds on a public number: good. Free public numbers usually work with this app. Pick one that received a message recently; if it is rejected, move to the next.
Messenger codes are issued by Facebook itself and arrive in a message that usually starts with FB-.
Worth knowing: in most regions Messenger no longer offers a standalone phone-only account. The practical route is to create a Facebook account, verify it with the number, and then sign in to Messenger with the same account.
Once you are inside the account
Because Messenger follows the Facebook account, the protections are the same: an email you control, app-based two-factor authentication, and saved recovery codes.
Messenger code not arriving?
- Wait one to three minutes. An SMS usually crosses several networks before it lands.
- Re-check the format. Make sure +34 appears exactly once, that the leading zero is gone, and that Messenger's country selector is set to Spain.
- Request the code again from inside Messenger — the new one arrives in the same inbox here. Do not fire off more than two or three requests a minute; apps throttle a line that is hammered.

Can I use it for a second Messenger account?

One distinction matters enormously, though: creating a new account on a temporary number is not the same as moving an existing one onto it. Some guides suggest swapping your real account over to a virtual line. With a public number that is dangerous advice — the line can be retired or reissued, and your route back into the account goes with it. Never move an account you own onto a number you do not.
Before you use the number
- Never receive bank codes or wallet confirmations on it.
